The Slab of Seed is Sow Delicious’s original invention — handmade from organically enriched super‑soil and infused with pure Heirloom seed sourced from expert growers. Each slab is designed for easy spacing and planting, holding water up to three times longer than the soil it is planted in. Soil probiotics support strong root development and enhance the flavour and vitality of the harvest.

This Salad Flowers slab grows three heirloom varieties: French Chives, Star‑flower Borage, and Viola. These edible flowers offer gentle flavour notes, bright colour, and practical culinary use across salads, drinks, and garnishes. Heirloom seed represents the oldest and purest seed lineage, preserved for stability, flavour, and true‑to‑type growth.

Variety Information

French Chives

Native to regions across China, Siberia, and Europe, French Chives have been cultivated for thousands of years and were historically used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. They contain potassium, vitamin A, vitamin C, B vitamins, and essential minerals. Tasting Note: Mild onion flavour.

Star‑flower Borage

A tall plant producing sky‑blue, star‑shaped flowers with a fresh, melony profile. The flowers are suited to salads, drinks, and decorative use. Tasting Note: Fresh & melony.

Viola

Indigenous to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, violas have been cultivated since at least 500 B.C. Their floral, aromatic notes and heart‑shaped petals make them ideal for garnishes and cool drinks. Tasting Note: Floral & aromatic.

How to Grow

Planting Method

1. Snap Break the slab into single blocks. Soak each block in water until it sinks.
2. Plant Place in fertile soil, 2mm below the surface. 1 block = 1 plant.
3. Water Water daily until sprouting. Thereafter, keep soil moist — never fully dry.

Growing Tip

Start each block in a paper cup for stronger early growth. Transplant when seedlings reach ±10cm.

• Spacing: 20–30cm depending on variety
